MUSIC MINISTRY
The most important music maker at Mass is you, the person in the pew. The various parish music ministries serve to facilitate and enhance the assemblyís role in praying through song. John McNally is the parish Director of Music Ministries. Leave a message for him at the parish center to learn more about any of the parish music groups.
CANTORS (Song Leaders)
Cantors provide visual and vocal leadership for the singing of the songs and responses of the liturgy. They work in conjunction with our parish organist, Olga Zara.
ADULT CHOIR
The "Sylver Tone" Choir is named for our parish's patron, Pope Sylvester I, who, according to legend, founded the papal choir in the early fourth century. The choir sings in a variety of styles and serves at the 10:00 AM Mass on Sundays. The choir is also present for the major celebrations throughout the year. It is directed by Rick Corrao.
CHILDREN'S CHOIR
The Children's Choir sings at the 8:45 AM Mass on Sundays and at selected events during the year. Megan Bayley is the director.
CONTEMPORARY MUSIC ENSEMBLE
This group welcomes singers, guitarists, and other instrumentalists and leads the singing at the 12:30 PM Mass on Sundays. Vicky Ivans is the CME director.
BRASS ENSEMBLE
The "Sylver Tone" Brass, our parish brass ensemble-in-residence, plays on selected occasions.
G.O.D. (GOOD OLD DANCE) BAND
The members meet for their own pleasure and to share their common interest in playing "big band" music of the 1940's and '50's. The group is led by Mike Virostko.
