Children's Choir

CHOIR CORNER

At this time, St Sylvester's does not have a Children's Choir. We do offer an opportunity for children to SIng Praise to God when we celebrate Children's Liturgy of the Word on the 4th Sunday of October and then continuing on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month from November through April at the 11:00 am Sunday Mass. The dates for Children's Liturgy of the Word can be found in the bulletin, on the parish website under Faith Formation, and are also sent home to all registered families in our Faith Formation Program.

At Children's Liturgy of the Word, the children go from the Church to the Chapel in the Parish Center, where catechists share the Sunday readings (in an approved modified version that is easier for the children to understand), share a reflection on the readings, and ask the children questions about what they have heard. We also do A LOT of singing during this Liturgy of the Word. We sing the Responsorial Psalm, the Gospel acclamation, and LEARN a song that is related to what we have heard. The children then return to the Church to join the assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. After the assembly has received Communion, the children then share the song they have learned as a meditation with the assembly. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children of St Sylvester's to hear the Word of God, break it open in a meaningful way, Praise God through Song, and share what they have learned!
